Finally Something Fresh
For Sunday Nights

Summer of 09’ has come and gone, and for the past three months (if not longer) I’ve found that as far as Sunday’s go (excluding holidays and long-weekends), there hasn’t been a whole lot to choose from in terms of parties, other than the obvious 2-C’s, being Cheval and Century.
Cheval is a great Sunday night spot and has been for quite a while. I actually had a killer night there the Sunday following Halloween this year. My only criticism of Cheval is it can get a tad too crowded for comfort and the crowd can at times come off as a bit ‘stush’. Don’t write it off due to that though. As I mentioned, you can certainly have a good night there, you just have to be in a mood for that atmosphere.
I can’t say much about Century Rooms Sunday night because I haven’t been in a while. From what I’ve heard though, it has been an alright party lately.
I had heard Tattoo Rock Parlor had a Sunday night industry party that was pretty good. So this past Sunday I thought I’d head down with a few friends and check it out. $2.50 drinks (until 11:30 or 12) were enticement enough to get me and my friends to come down and check it out. The music, crowd and vibe however kept us there.
The crowd was casually dressed yet stylish. Overall very friendly and good looking. As for numbers the night started out a tad slow, but quickly picked up and by midnight it was a full house.
As I mentioned, the main attraction aside from looking for something new/fresh, was the cheap drinks. We got absolutely bombed and didn’t break the bank, which is always a nice scenario. Even after midnight (when the drink prices went up) drinks were only $4, which is still stupid cheap. I might also mention that bottles were going for $100.

Despite the amount of people and the low priced drinks, the service was great at the bar. The bartender we were going to most of the night was very quick and even remembered what my friends and I were drinking each time we went, so all we had to say was “another round” and like magic the drinks were there.
Not sure who the dj was. To be honest, for the first hour or so I found the music to be mediocre. It did however get a lot better throughout the night (maybe the dj was keeping the good stuff til’ the place packed up). There was a good mix of house, electro, hiphop, mash-ups, and top-40.

I ran into some old friends I hadn’t seen in like 3 or 4 years, some friends I wasn't expecting to be there, and also made some new “friends”. All in all I had a great time. It was nice to finally have a fresh bumping party on a Sunday night, that’s a little more laidback than Cheval and Century, yet still stylish. We had such a good time that I’m planning to head back this Sunday for round 2. Definitely a spot I’d recommend checking out if you’re tired of the same old, or are just looking to try something else out.
Unfortunately I didn't bring my camera along so I don't have any photos from the night. I guess you will just have to take my word and check out the party on your own.
